Tobias Harris says he turned down an $80 million extension offer from the Los Angeles Clippers last offseason because he wanted to bet on himself.

The gamble paid off, as Harris had a great 2018-19 season with the Clippers and Sixers and will likely command a max contract this summer in free agency. The small forward becomes an unrestricted free agent.

The Sixers and Brooklyn Nets have been mentioned as the two favorites to sign Harris this offseason. Philly wants to keep Harris since they gave up a lot to acquire him at the February trade deadline from the Clippers.

Harris averaged 18.2 points, 7.9 rebounds and 2.9 assists in 27 regular season games with the Sixers while shooting 46.9 percent from the field, 32.6 percent from beyond the arc and 84.1 percent from the free-throw line.

During the 2019 playoffs, Tobias put up 15.5 points, 9.1 rebounds and 4.0 assists. The Sixers lost to the Toronto Raptors in the second round of the playoffs in seven games. Philly has three key players entering free agency this summer: Harris, Jimmy Butler and J.J. Redick.

The Nets are reportedly going to land All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving this summer. Brooklyn has cap space to sign two max contract players. The Nets would be lethal offensively if they added Irving and Harris to the core of Jarrett Allen, Caris LeVert, Spencer Dinwiddie and Joe Harris.

D'Angelo Russell becomes a restricted free agent this offseason. The Nets might have to let Russell walk in free agency if they sign Irving.
