Free agency madness is about to start in a few hours, and one of the biggest fish in this year's market is free agent forward Kevin Durant.

Durant has been linked to several teams – both of which include the two New York-based squads, the New York Knicks and the Brooklyn Nets. In a report by Marc Berman of The New York Post, a source claimed that Durant has a desire to live in New York.

“[Durant] wants to live in New York,’’ one NBA source said recently.

Durant to the Knicks has always been the story over the course of the 2018-19 season. Prior to Durant's Achilles injury, they were seen as heavy favorites to land KD.

Now the Nets have inserted themselves as strong contenders to land the two-time Finals MVP. Brooklyn looks like the favorite to sign free agent point guard Kyrie Irving. Throughout the regular season, Irving and Durant have both been rumored to form a superstar tandem with the Knicks.

But now it appears like Kyrie is going to cross the bridge. With that said, a pairing with Irving in Brooklyn also became a possible scenario for Durant.

However, the Knicks remain strong contenders to land the 2014 NBA MVP. Durant has reportedly been recuperating in NYC since his surgery. Likewise, he has close ties with Allonzo Trier, whom he mentored when he was with the Oklahoma City Thunder. He is also close to DeAndre Jordan, whom the Knicks intend to re-sign as well in free agency.

Whether it's in New York of Brooklyn or somewhere else, the team that will ultimately win the KD sweepstakes will have to endure a year without him as he will reportedly miss the entire 2019-20 season.
