Nine-year NBA vet, and unrestricted free agent, Garrett Temple is getting “strong interest” from the Brooklyn Nets, Denver Nuggets, Utah Jazz, and Houston Rockets, ESPN’s Marc J. Spears reports.
Temple, a 6-foot-6 wing, last played for the Los Angeles Clippers during the 2018-19 NBA season. Los Angeles acquired the shooting guard from the Memphis Grizzlies in the Avery Bradley trade, which also sent power forward JaMychal Green to the Clippers.
Temple, 33, has seen playing time with eight franchises during his career in the Association, including the Sacramento Kings for two non-consecutive stints. During the 2011-12 season, Temple would play with A.S. Junior Pallacanestro Casale In Italy for a single year.
The Nets are looking to shore up wing depth in the wake of the expected max contract inking of unrestricted free agent point guard Kyrie Irving.
The Nuggets, meanwhile, could use a veteran wing to backup emerging talents Malik Beasley and Gary Harris.
Temple, who played four years at Louisiana State University from 2005-09, has averaged 5.9 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game in 514 total appearances in his nine-year career, while shooting 40.8% from the floor, 35.3% from deep, and 72.9% from the charity stripe.
Temple played the longest, four consecutive seasons, with the Washington Wizards before he left the D.C. franchise for the Kings in free agency in 2016. He arrived in Memphis in the July 2018 trade, which sent Ben McLemore, Deyonta Davis, and a second-round pick to Sacramento.
