Veteran point guard Tony Parker has not expressed a hint that he’s going to retire anytime soon. In fact, he wants to play for three more years in order to hit the 20-season milestone. While he prefers to stay with the San Antonio Spurs, the only team he has played for so far in his illustrious NBA career, Parker is open to the idea of donning a different thread during the twilight of his career in the league.

As an unrestricted free agent, Parker reportedly has a few other teams expressing interests in him, most notably the Denver Nuggets and the Charlotte Hornets, according to L’Equipe (h/t Simon Stephan of BasketUSA.com and Paul Garcia ProjectSpurs.com).

Through the first the day of free agency, there weren’t any rumors about where Parker might play, but, according to BasketUSA.com (via L’Equipe) Parker has 5-6 teams with interest in him, specifically the Denver Nuggets and Charlotte Hornets.

While Tony Parker is past his prime, he could still be a reliable backup guard for any team provided that he remains healthy. Parker played in only 55 games last season due to a quad injury that the Spurs also had to plan Parker’s minutes and game availability around.

The Nuggets recently traded Wilson Chandler to the Philadelphia 76ers, thus opening up some space on their salary cap, which they could use to accommodate Tony Parker. In Denver, he can serve both as a backup and mentor to Jamal Murray and Garry Harries, the young and promising backcourt tandem of the Nuggets.

The Hornets, on the other hand, is coached by James Borrego, who needs no introduction to Parker, since he’s worked with the Spurs before as an assistant to Gregg Popovich.

Parker put up career-lows in points and assists last season with averages of 7.7 and 3.5 per game, respectively.
