A total of 546 NBA players were tested for COVID-19 from Nov. 24-30 with the 2020-21 season set to start on Dec. 22.

Unfortunately, 48 players returned positive tests. That’s 8.8 percent of the league.

This was to be expected since players are coming into town from different cities. The reason the NBA bubble at Walt Disney World worked so well was because everyone was under one roof and had to adhere to the strict coronavirus protocols.

Some players, though, tested positive for COVID-19 during the initial testing phase of the bubble before the games started in late July.

It’s going to be very interesting to see if the NBA can pull off the 2020-21 campaign. Thus far, the NFL has had positive COVID-19 tests every week. Without a bubble, it’s nearly impossible to prevent players from contracting COVID-19 since teams can’t limit what guys are doing outside of the facility.

The Los Angeles Lakers and Miami Heat, who met in the 2020 Finals, will have the shortest offseason in sports history. The NBA made it a point to start the 2020-21 campaign before the new year due to financial reasons. After all, Adam Silver and Co. already lost a ton of money due to the suspension in March and lack of fans at the bubble.

Thus far, the Utah Jazz are the only team that will allow some fans at games in 2020-21.
