Two-time NBA champion Adam Morrison first started his career in the league with the then-Charlotte Bobcats. The Gonzaga star was selected No. 3 overall in the 2005 NBA Draft, with Michael Jordan starting to play a significant role within the organization before ultimately becoming the owner of the team.

Although Morrison admittedly didn't have many interactions with Jordan during his time in Charlotte, the now 35-year-old had a few memorable moments with the NBA icon, which he shared with Tomer Azarly and I on the Battle For L.A. Podcast recently.

“Being around Mike was, I've been around obviously celebrities and pro athletes, I was one, and playing for the Lakers you are around people that are larger than life and Mike by far takes the cake as far as aura and the way people act around him,” Morrison said of Michael Jordan. “Just like his being, I guess you could say is unmatched.”

Morrison's reaction to being around Jordan is fairly common as the Chicago Bulls legend seems to have this kind of impact on everyone that he meets no matter their statue or celebrity status. The former Los Angeles Lakers and Bobcats small forward also talked about an unwritten rule in the NBA, which resulted in another interaction between him and the Hall of Famer.

“We used to have an unwritten rule in the league, and most teams did it,” Morrison said. “If your team played each other in basketball or football, it was an automatic $100 bet. So Gonzaga played [North] Carolina in the [Madison Square] Garden after my rookie year, and we won, and so I saw him at the Christmas party and was like, ‘Hey, you owe me $100!' And I was kind of like joking, and he was like, ‘Oh yeah! No problem.' And he pulled out like $8-10 grand out of his pocket.”

It comes as no surprise that Jordan, who is now a billionaire in his post-playing career, would carry around cash like that. Along with always having more money than some have in their bank account in his pocket, Jordan has been known to enjoy gambling, whether it being on the golf course or at a poker table.

Morrison shared with us a funny story about Jordan and a friendly game of Texas Hold'em on the Bobcats team plane. Jordan wasn't on the plane often, but this instance was memorable, to say the least.

“We used to play cards on the plane before all that crazy stuff in Washington went down,” Morrison said. “We'd play Booray. We'd play Texas Hold'em, and Mike, he barely flew with us, like I said, he wasn't the GM. He wasn't the owner. He was a minority owner then, but he flew with us on one of the road trips, and somebody asked him, ‘Hey, do you want to play cards with us?' He was like, ‘Sure.' But then we were like you can't bring like $50,000 and bet everybody off every hand. We're going to cap it at like a $1,000 bet a street, max.

“So, him and Gerald Wallace were in a hand, and I'm a poker player, so I don't know if you guys are, but there was a straight draw, flush draw on the flop and you could tell Mike was drawing to something and Gerald bet $300 into him. Mike literally goes, ‘$300? I could watch two monkeys fuck for $300!'

“Everybody was fucking laughing and shit, but it was like $300? Okay. He probably had a gutshot or something like that. He was always cool, man. He really was. It was cool to be around him. He was a hero of mine growing up. That's my Michael Jordan story.”

Along with this story about arguably the greatest player in NBA history, Morrison shared with us a touching story about him and Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant. He may have not had the kind of career he wanted in the league, but he certainly had some unforgettable experiences with two of the most impactful players in league history.
