A scoring standout in Gonzaga, former 3rd pick overall Adam Morrison's NBA career didn't pan out the way he wanted it to be. But now that he has accepted his basketball fate, he's now happy and contented to live a simple life just like a ‘typical soccer dad.'

Brian Bennett of The Athletic recently caught up with Morrison to talk about the latter's life right now and how he came to accept people's criticisms.

“I was upset for a while about how my career turned out,” Morrison says. “At times, sure, I wish was still playing. But I’m not like, ‘Aw, dang, I screwed this up and I’m working at a Costco.’ People expect me to be destitute or something. I don’t live an extravagant lifestyle — I don’t need to go party every weekend or have a place in Miami. I’m lucky to have saved my money.”

“I’m kind of a boring guy,” says Morrison. “I’m like your typical soccer dad.”

With the 3rd pick of the draft that night, the Charlotte Bobcats used it to acquire the 6-foot-8 small forward out of Gonzaga. Morrison had impressive averages during his third year in college, putting up 28.1 points, 5.1 rebounds and an outstanding 43% clip from beyond the arc. He had the size to go with his tremendous shooting as the Bobcats set their sights on him as the franchise's future centerpiece.

But after tearing his ACL in 2007, Morrison never caught glimpse of basketball success as his NBA career started to spiral downwards. He last played for the Los Angeles Lakers in 2010 before finally calling it quits.

Even so, Morrison doesn't dwell in that bitter past anymore. With a full life ahead of him and his family, he knows there are better ways to spend a day than by sitting in the corner and be remorseful about life regrets.
