In tribute to the late Kobe Bryant, the NBA has announced that the All-Star game MVP trophy will be renamed to the Kobe Bryant MVP trophy. Bryant's lasting legacy on the league is undeniable. Bryant is considered by many as one of the best players in the history of the sport and after his untimely death, various players and teams across the NBA have found ways to honor the legend.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver explained the league's decision to rename the All-Star Game MVP trophy.

Bryant, his 13-year-old daughter Gianna and seven other passengers were killed in a tragic helicopter crash in Calabasas, California in January. The death of an icon like Bryant has, of course, sent shockwaves throughout the sports world.

Bryant was no stranger to the All-Star game. In 20 seasons (all with the Los Angeles Lakers), Bryant was named an All-Star 18 times and won game MVP four times in 2002, 2007, 2009 and 2011.

The 2020 All-Star game will pit Team Giannis and Team LeBron against each other for the second year in a row.
