NBA Commissioner Adam Silver made it clear that he is behind his NBA players who have been taking part in peaceful protests amid racial injustice.

In an internal league memo obtained by Vincent Goodwill of Yahoo Sports, Adam Silver acknowledged that social injustice remains rampant in the United States.

“Racism, police brutality and racial injustice remain part of everyday life in America and cannot be ignored,” he wrote in the lengthy statement.

The entire country was left shaken to the core upon the brutal death of African American George Floyd at the hands of the Minnesota Police Department last week.

Last February, Ahmad Aurbery was gunned down by two white residents in Georgia, while Breonna Taylor was fatally shot by  Louisville Metro Police Department officers last March.

These deaths have once again exposed the injustice to the African American community in today's justice system.

Utah Jazz guard Jordan Clarkson walked the streets and joined a peaceful protest in Los Angeles on Saturday. Free agent JR Smith was spotted as well but has come under fire after a video showed him beating up a civilian who damaged his car during the protest.

Boston Celtics swingman Jalen Brown reportedly drove 15 hours to join the protests in Atlanta. Tobias Harris of the Philadelphia 76ers and Dennis Smith Jr. of the New York Knicks also participated as well.

Other NBA stars have also been quite vocal about the issue, particularly Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James.

While the world is still recovering from the effects of COVID-19 pandemic, mass hysteria has engulfed some parts of the US as retaliation for Floyd's death. It's clear that violence and looting are not the answer to get justice for the victims' deaths.
