In a Twitter interview with TNT's Ernie Johnson on Monday evening, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver expressed his desire to ideally finish the 2019-20 regular season. But he acknowledged that the league won't be able to make an informed decision on possibly resuming basketball activities for at least another month or so.

Silver admitted that “we haven't made any decisions,” but in “a perfect world, yes, we would try to finish the regular season.” The commissioner added that no official calls have been made yet regarding whether to complete the regular season or jump directly into postseason play.

As the country grapples with the coronavirus pandemic and attempts to flatten the nationwide curve, don't hold your breath for any major news regarding the NBA's return. Silver cautioned NBA fans and followers to “accept that at least for the month of April we won't be in any position to make any decisions.”

Earlier on Monday, Boston Celtics center Enes Kanter opined that players would likely need around two to three weeks to get back into adequate game shape and re-focus before playing high-intensity postseason hoops.

The NBA halted it's regular season and went on indefinite hiatus on March 11th in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak. Along with the other professional leagues around the globe, the NBA is considering a litany of options for how to possibly complete the 2019-20 campaign and crown a champion. Although any scenario wouldn't likely begin until mid-to-late June, at the most optimistic.
