NBA commissioner Adam Silver talked about the recent trade demands that affected a number of teams over the past several years.

According to Marc Stein of the New York Times, Silver said that the trade demands needs to be “addressed” in some manner. During his annual news conference in Las Vegas, Silver admitted that the trade demands are “disheartening” and it is the reason why he thinks changes should be made.

The NBA was rocked by trade demands from superstars over the past several years. The most recent one was from Paul George. The superstar forward reportedly requested for a trade out of the Oklahoma City Thunder after getting convinced by Kawhi Leonard to move to the Los Angeles Clippers.

The Thunder eventually gave into his request. They traded George to the Clippers in exchange for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Danilo Gallinari, four unprotected first-round picks, one protected first-round pick, and two pick swaps. The trade eventually helped the Clippers win the race to sign Leonard.

It can also be remembered that Anthony Davis asked the New Orleans Pelicans to trade him last season. The Pelicans did not find a desirable deal before the trade deadline. However, they eventually dealt him to the Los Angeles Lakers this offseason for Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart, and three first-round picks.
