NBA commissioner Adam Silver is convinced that the setup of the NBA All-Star Game this year “didn't work,” and it may already be time to fix it again.

Is the commish growing weary of the game, or just its newly-designed format?

Evidently it's both, per recent reports.

“The All-Star Game didn’t work,” Silver said, via the Associated Press, calling it “an afterthought” and saying of the changes so players go on teams drafted by captains “I get it. We put an earring on a pig.”

What's the solution you ask? A seasonal tournament.

This sounds simple, but given the current state of the league being more player-oriented, it's likely going to be a tall task to sway the rest of the league to think correspondingly – especially Los Angeles Lakers superstar and 2019 All-Star Game captain LeBron James.

James is not only a huge advocate of the tradition and the game, but he's also the one who bred the “pickup style” aspect of it.

Team LeBron beat Team Giannis (Antetokounmpo) 178-164 in this year's All-Star clash, and players on both sides had a ton of fun competing with (and against) each other.

Though Silver could be on the right track with this one, it's a 50/50 chance that it can work.

There could be multiple smaller tournaments, Silver said. It would even be possible to have some of these tournaments overseas — Europe, Asia — where the NBA is working to grow its brand.

It's obvious that Silver has thought a great deal about this proposal, but whether or not he can execute it definitely remains to be seen.
