The one and only Allen Iverson appears to have just cast his vote on the whole NBA GOAT debate, and somewhat surprisingly, he seems to have taken Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James over Michael Jordan.
Iverson recently made an appearance on rapper Fat Joe's podcast last week, and this was where the Philadelphia 76ers legend made his pronouncement about LeBron being “the one.”
“As much as I love Michael Jordan, like, dawg, man, LeBron James is the one, dawg. He the one, man.”
“That mother f***er is the one, man,” Allen Iverson exclaimed (h/t TMZ Sports)
It is not entirely clear what Iverson really meant as “the one,” but he did seem to imply that he's willing to take LeBron over MJ with his statement here.
To make matters even more obscure, Iverson also threw in Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant into the conversation, labeling him too as “the one.” At this point, Iverson pretty much left as baffled as those following the NBA bubble. Maybe he was under so much pressure to answer such a loaded question that he ended up completely blowing his response? Then again, A.I. is pretty clutch, and this was not exactly his finest moment.
We're lucky that the late, great Kobe Bryant was not thrown into the conversation. Judging by how emotional Iverson was in the wake of Kobe's untimely passing in January, it would not be surprising if Iverson also puts the Lakers legend in his “the one” category.
Whatever the case may be, the NBA GOAT debate has been one of the most polarizing subjects in the sport, and for his part, Iverson also seems to be on the fence with regards to this particular topic. He's surely not alone with this, as social media rages whenever this debate goes on, people changing their minds on the fly themselves.
