Allen Iverson has had always spoke highly of Vince Carter, so it’s no wonder why the Philadelphia 76ers legend is one of the first people to congratulate the Atlanta Hawks veteran when he joined the elite NBA 25,000-point club.

Vince Carter reached the landmark feat in Wednesday’s loss to the Toronto Raptors, scoring 14 points in 21 minutes of action. He became only the 22nd player to hit the mark and fourth active player to do so, along with LeBron James, Dirk Nowitzki and Carmelo Anthony.

After his incredible milestone, Allen Iverson — who has had some epic duels with Vince Carter during his career — took it to Instagram to honor one of the most iconic players in the game.

Perhaps, Iverson’s connection to Carter would always be their sensational match-up back in the 2001 playoffs when AI was still with the Sixers and VC with the Raptors. During that time, the two traded 50-point games: Iverson scoring 54 in Game 2 and Carter responding with 50 in Game 3.

Over the course of their second-round, seven-game series, Iverson averaged 33.7 points, 4.4 rebounds, 6.9 assists and 3.1 steals. Meanwhile, Carter put up 30.4 points, 6.0 rebounds, 5.4 assists and 1.9 steals.

As can be seen in the clip along with Iverson’s message to Carter, the two have played in some celebrity charity games. Unfortunately, fans never get to see the two play together in the same NBA team.
