Former Phoenix Suns and New York Knicks All-Star Amar'e Stoudemire is considering a comeback to the NBA. Stoudemire is currently playing in the BIG3 with his sights set on rejoining an NBA roster next season.

And for Stoudemire, it's not just a dream. Stoudemire told TMZ he's in contact with a several NBA teams and feels he's on the verge of a return.

“My goal is to come back to the NBA for sure. That's my goal. That's what I'm training for. That's what I'm striving for and the BIG3 is just a great platform for me to stay in shape.”

The ninth overall pick in the 2002 NBA Draft, Amar'e Stoudemire last played during the 2015-16 season with the Miami Heat. He played in Israel in 2016-17 before retiring and joining the Big3. He averaged 18.9 points and 7.2 rebounds on 53.7 percent shooting over the course of a 14-year NBA career.

Known for his explosive dunks, Stoudemire won Rookie of the Year in 2003 and was a six-time All-Star, earning five with Phoenix and one with New York. The 35-year-old may seem committed to an NBA comeback but it's still unclear whether or not his dream will become a reality.

Amar'e admits any talks he's had with teams have been “very shallow” thus far. He could have a little bit left in the tank, but why would a team take a flyer on a once retired player over a younger player with potential upside?

Stoudemire is clearly very confident and committed, but his NBA comeback is nothing more than talk at this point.
