Amar'e Stoudemire is eyeing a return to the NBA after playing professional basketball in Israel, and he feels he can still compete at a high level.

Stoudemire recently worked out in front of several teams in an attempt to get an NBA contract for the upcoming season. In an interview on MSG 150, the 36-year-old forward said that his body is “feeling great” at this point of his career despite not playing in the NBA in the last three seasons.

The six-time NBA All-Star believes that he is in very good shape, as he is down to 235 pounds — which, according to him, is the lowest weight he has ever played at. Stoudemire also insisted that he is taking his physical training seriously to keep his body in topnotch shape.

“I was never really done,” Stoudemire said, per Marc Berman of the New York Post. “I took kind of a sabbatical leave and I went to go learn over in Israel for two and a half years or so. So I went there and when I was still learning, I was able to also play basketball and keep myself in shape. I always stayed in top shape.”

Amar'e Stoudemire last played in the NBA during the 2015-16 NBA season. He appeared in 52 games for the Miami Heat, during which he posted 5.8 points and 4.3 rebounds per game.
