Portland Trail Blazers All-Star point guard Damian Lillard and New Orleans Pelicans superstar big man Anthony Davis are close friends off the court. The two stars were in the same draft class and keep in touch throughout the season.

That's why Lillard has no problem with Davis requesting a trade from the Pelicans. Dame, whose Blazers are currently fourth in the Western Conference, believes AD has given New Orleans everything he has to offer and hopes Davis gets what he's looking for down the road.

“I hope he gets what he's looking for,” Damian Lillard told Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports. “He's been there seven years. He felt like he's done his best. He's ready to move on. You can't be mad at him for that.”

The second half of the season for the Pelicans and Davis is going to be awkward. Davis reportedly wants to play, while New Orleans wants to sit him out for the rest of the season so he doesn't get hurt.

The Pelicans will resume trade talks on Davis once the offseason hits. Obviously, Damian Lillard would love to have “The Brow” with him in Portland, but the Trail Blazers don't have the assets to trade for Davis.

Lillard also brought up a good point about how when teams part ways with players, it's part of the business, but when players decide to leave a team, they always get criticized for it. That double standard needs to stop.

The Blazers got swept by the Pelicans during the 2018 playoffs. It's interesting that Lillard still wants to stay in Portland, while Davis is looking to bolt New Orleans.
