It is official: The NBA will be playing a regular-season game in Paris next year. It was announced Thursday that the first-ever regular season game in Paris will feature the Milwaukee Bucks going up against the Charlotte Hornets. The game will be held at AccorHotels Arena on Jan. 24, 2020:

There's still no specific date when the tickets will go on sale, but fans can gain access to presale information and more by visiting NBAEvents.com/ParisGame.

The Bucks, who currently own the best record in the league, are expected to bring Giannis Antetokounmpo, Eric Bledsoe, and Khris Middleton (assuming he re-signs) to Paris, while the Hornets might be without Kemba Walker, who's set to become a free agent this summer. Charlotte has Frenchman Nicolas Batum under contract for next season, while Tony Parker has a non-guaranteed deal.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver is more than excited to bring the NBA to Paris:

“Our NBA Paris Game will showcase the continued global growth of basketball in one of the world’s greatest cities. With France leading a record number of players from Europe in the league, we look forward to bringing together basketball fans from across the continent for the NBA’s first regular-season game in Paris.”

Charlotte Hornets owner Michael Jordan is honored that his team has been given the opportunity to play a game in France:

“The Charlotte Hornets are proud to have the opportunity to participate in the first NBA regular-season game in Paris. Having played in the preseason in France during my career, I witnessed first-hand the passion the French fans have for NBA basketball. We are excited to bring our team to Paris for this history-making event.”

Shortly after the game between the New York Knicks and Washington Wizards in London last January, Silver said they were looking at the possibility of having an NBA game played in Paris.

And now, here it is.
