Milwaukee Bucks third-year shooting guard Sterling Brown will participate in the 2019-20 NBA resumed season in Orlando, Florida.

Brown, 25, was a victim of police brutality when Milwaukee police officers tackled and tased the SMU product on Jan. 26, 2018, in an empty Walgreens parking lot due to alleged suspicion while the then-rookie swingman for the Bucks was wearing a hoodie.

Brown's participation in a restarted NBA season goes far beyond the Bucks: It comes at a time when many players are considering sitting out beyond concerns about safety amid the coronavirus pandemic. In addition to that, players, such as Brooklyn Nets star point guard Kyrie Irving, have expressed skepticism in playing again and distracting from monumental protests occurring nationwide, calling out police brutality and voicing support for the Black Lives Matter movement.

Per ESPN's Eric Woodyard on the Bucks' Sterling Brown:

“I don't disagree with guys that want to sit out, they're definitely doing it for a good cause, they're doing it for a good reason, but me, personally, I feel like it's an opportunity for me to use more of our platform and our resources to continue to bring awareness and shine light. It's going to be the same thing if they sat out so it's all for a greater cause. We've got to focus on that. Right now is not the time to try to divide us because some people want to sit out and some people want to play. No, we're all in this together as a community, everybody's not going to always see eye-to-eye.”

Brown, the conscience of the Bucks, continued to advocate for a diverse plan of attacking the attention and awareness of people in order to promote change, saying there is not one way to achieve goals for addressing “white America.”

The Bucks sit in first place in the Eastern Conference and the team, powered by last year's league MVP forward Giannis Antetokounmpo, is favored to come out of the conference and compete for the 2020 title.
