The Chicago Bulls and New Orleans Pelicans officially completed their blockbuster deal on Monday despite the NBA's ongoing investigation for tampering.

While this is great news to see the deal go through, the Bulls and Pelicans are definitely not out of hot water quite yet. The league announced on Saturday they are looking into both blockbuster trades at the beginning of free agency, headlined by Ball and Kyle Lowry, who went from the Toronto Raptors to Miami Heat.

These trades were completed basically right after free agency opened up last Monday, which has led to the NBA believing there could've been some prior communication between organizations. All four teams could face punishment as a result.

Nevertheless, the Bulls will be extremely pleased with this trade. They've brought in one of the best playmakers in the game in Lonzo, while also adding DeMar DeRozan and Alex Caruso. The Pels also got a decent return from Chicago as they look to turn things around and get Zion Williamson into the playoffs.

If punished, any of these clubs could be fined up to $10 million, lose draft picks, or even have executives suspended. It remains to be seen if that will happen, but the NBA is doing its due diligence.
