The NBA has banned a Boston Celtics fan for two years after yelling a racial slur at Golden State Warriors star center DeMarcus Cousins back on Jan. 26 at the TD Garden, according to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports.

The Celtics fan yelled the n-word at Cousins. The Warriors' All-Star center informed the security at the stadium and the fan has now been banned for two years.

DeMarcus Cousins told Chris Haynes on a recent podcast that he's been called all types of names during games.

Now, the league has taken action against this particular Celtics fan.

A few weeks ago, Oklahoma City Thunder star point guard Russell Westbrook got into it with a Utah Jazz fan. The fan in Utah told Westbrook to, “Get on your knees like you are used to.”

The Jazz banned that fan for life, while the NBA fined Westbrook $25,000.

The fans who attend games need to stop yelling racial slurs at the players. At the end of the day, the players are human beings as well. It's not right for fans to come to games and be disrespectful to the players, who are at their work environment.

Expect security at stadiums to be even more strict moving forward after this DeMarcus Cousins news.
