The Griddy celebration has taken over the NFL. From wide receivers to quarterbacks, every player seems to want to pull off this celebration at least once. While this trend hasn't taken over the NBA yet, one legend of the game tried his hand on the celebration: Charles Barkley.

During an episode of Inside the NBA, Charles Barkley tried to perform the popular Griddy dance. The result was just as hilarious as you'd expect, as Chuck got nowhere near close to replicating the dance. (via @cjzero on Twitter)

For the hardcore NBA fans, here's a quick lesson on this dance move. The Griddy was a dance move created by a friend of Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja'marr Chase. Chase introduced the celebration to his then-LSU teammate Justin Jefferson, who popularized the usage of the move. Ever since Jefferson popularized it with the Vikings, it's caught on to other more notable players.

Will we ever see the Griddy in an NBA game? Perhaps: the move has started gaining a lot more popularity since Jefferson did it in 2020. Even non-wide receivers have been getting in on the action recently: Mac Jones became a Pro Bowl highlight for attempting a Griddy during the All-Star game.

Still, newer and younger fans of the game can't help but cringe a little at an old head like Chuck attempt a Griddy. It's like if your granddad tried to hip-hop in front of your friends… if your granddad just so happened to be an NBA legend and part of the 75 greatest players of that league.
