The NBA has seen a spike in COVID related cases in recent days, causing disruption to team's normal routines. It was announced Friday morning that the Boston Celtics have canceled their morning shoot around ahead of tonight's game against the Golden State Warriors.

On Thursday, the Celtics placed forward Jabari Parker into the league's health and safety protocols. Friday morning, the Warriors added guard Jordan Poole was also placed into the league's health and safety protocols.

Parker and Warriors PG Poole are just the latest in a long line of NBA players to enter COVID protocols.

In recent days, super stars Giannis Antetokounmpo, James Harden, Ja Morant, De'Aaron Fox and many others have been entered into protocol. This massive spike in cases has caused the league to announce that they have come to an agreement with the player's union adjusting some of the protocols.

They have agreed to start increased testing on December 26th. All players and staff will be tested on all game days except for those who have received their booster shots at least 14 days prior or have recently recovered from the virus.

Players, coaches and staff will all also be required to wear masks at all time while on the bench, in the weight and training rooms, any other workout facility and while traveling with the team.

Later Friday morning, news got worse for the Celtics as Al Horford and Grant Williams were also added to the COVID health and safety protocols list. Both players have been ruled out for Friday night's game against the Warriors.

Horford is having a resurgent year for Boston. He is averaging over 12 points, eight rebounds, almost four assists and a block and a half per game.

After having a limited number of outbreaks in the first six weeks of the NBA season, there has been over 50 positive tests records in the last two weeks. The Chicago Bulls have had to postpone two of their games because they did not have enough healthy players on their roster. This is an ever-changing situation for the Warriors, Celtics and rest of the league.
