According to the media relations Twitter account for the Toronto Raptors, and Mark Medina of Mercury News, Stephen Curry and DeMar DeRozan have been named the NBA Players of the Week for their respective conferences. Both players have excelled brilliantly on the court, giving their teams a much-needed boost in this competitive stretch of the NBA season.

This award is the third recognition for DeRozan this season, and it based on of his franchise record of 52 points against the Milwaukee Bucks on Jan. 1. DeRozan is averaging 25 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 4.9 assists, while shooting career-high 36% from the three-point line. He has led the Raptors to the second-best record in the Eastern Conference, and his team is currently three games back from the top-seed Boston Celtics.

As for Curry, his recognition as the Western Conference Player of the Week award was a given. In his last four games since his return, Curry is averaging 36 points per game while shooting 56% from deep. In a recent performance, Curry scorched the Clippers with a signature 45-point performance, shooting eight threes in only three quarters. The Warriors are currently the best team in the NBA with a 32-8 record, and have been clicking on all cylinders since Curry has returned, even in Durant's absence in the last two games. Curry is currently averaging 27.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, 6.3 assists, and 1.7 steals, while shooting 41% from the arc.

Both players have been crucial for their teams in the past week, which is why the Warriors and the Raptors have been two of the hottest teams in the NBA, with both teams currently on a 4-game winning streak. If this keeps up, both players are certain to receive MVP considerations.
