DeMarcus Cousins didn't play a single game during the 2019-20 season due to an ACL tear he suffered while playing in a pick-up game in Las Vegas.

The Los Angeles Lakers waived Cousins in February to open up a roster spot, which was eventually taken by Markieff Morris.

While Cousins is progressing well with his ACL rehab, he may not be ready for the start of the 2020-21 season, according to his agent, Jeff Schwartz.

Via Slam Magazine's Austin Kent:

DeMarcus Cousins continues to recover from the left knee injury that cost him his 2019-20 campaign and may not be ready to play on an opening day roster next month.

There haven’t been any specific setbacks, Cousins’ agent Jeff Schwartz tells SLAM, but the former All-Star is intent on returning at full strength and in a situation that’s going to be a good fit for him.

Cousins, a four-time All-Star, has career averages of 21.2 points, 10.9 rebounds and 3.2 assists with the Sacramento Kings, New Orleans Pelicans and Golden State Warriors. He has been bitten by the injury bug since 2018, as Cousins has tore his Achilles, quad tendon and ACL.

It's going to be interesting to see if the Lakers re-sign Cousins or if the veteran big man has to look elsewhere. One thing we do know is that the entire NBA world is rooting for Boogie to make a big comeback and play in meaningful games again.

The Lakers, who won the 2020 title over the Miami Heat in six games, will probably offer Cousins a championship ring.
