Despite multiple teams expressing interest in DeMarcus Cousins, the four-time All-Star center will sit out the remainder of the 2019-20 NBA season to focus on his recovery for the ensuing season, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium. Teams like the Washington Wizards had debated signing him to a deal.

According to Tania Ganguli of the Los Angeles Times, Cousins' agent, Jeff Schwartz, says they're still evaluating their options, though the situation would have to be ideal to make Cousins comfortable enough to play instead of focusing on his rehab. ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported similar on Tuesday morning.

Cousins, who was waived by the Los Angeles Lakers in late February, was considered among the top choices for teams hoping to load up on talent. The big man was expected to remain a free agent until the next NBA season, considering he has suffered a torn Achilles, torn quad, and torn ACL in the span of 18 months.

Boogie did not play a single minute for the Lakers after tearing his ACL during an informal summer pick-up game. He was waived to make room for other bodies ahead of the postseason. If a team winds up signing him, it will do so with the vision of bringing back a healthy version for the 2020-21 season more so than adding a potential cog to make a playoff push.

Cousins started his career with the Sacramento Kings but was traded to the New Orleans Pelicans in 2017 after five and a half seasons with the team. He suffered his torn Achilles injury in late January 2018, taking almost a year to come back as a member of the Golden State Warriors.

The big man suffered another major injury two games into his playoff career, a torn quad that kept him out for the bulk of the postseason until he rejoined his new teammates for the NBA Finals.

The latest torn ACL completed the trifecta of lower-body injuries that have plagued the former All-Star, who will now be on the road to recovery and away from the Walt Disney World bubble until he finds the right destination.
