Derrick Williams is taking his talents into another continent. According to Eurohoops.net, the former No. 2 overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft has signed a deal with German ball club Bayern Munich.

While it guarantees that he’s still going to play competitive basketball, Williams’ contract with Bayern Munich is a reminder of how far he’s fallen from being a highly sought-after NBA prospect to a mere basketball vagabond before even reaching his 28th birthday.
The last time he played an NBA game, Derrick Williams was part of the Los Angeles Lakers, appearing in two games for the Purple and Gold after signing a late-season 10-day contract with the team. Prior to his stint with the Lakers, Williams was among the Cleveland Cavaliers players carried by LeBron James all the way into the 2017 NBA Finals.
Williams first broke into the NBA in 2011, when he was selected in the first round by the Minnesota Timberwolves out of the Arizona Wildcats program. He was drafted right after the Cavs used their first-overall pick to get Duke Blue Devils star Kyrie Irving.
In 428 career NBA games, the athletic Williams compiled averages of 8.9 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 0.7 assists. He shot 43.4 percent from the floor and 71.0 percent from the free throw line. His best season in the NBA came in his second year when he put up 12.0 points and 5.5 rebounds per contest for the Timberwolves.
