Dallas Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki aired his support for victims of racism and social injustice, following the tragic death of George Floyd at the hands of a Minneapolis Police officer.

In a lengthy Twitter post on Tuesday, the retired German superstar called for an overdue change in society. Nowitzki also pledged to help out an organization that will help educate future generations about the matter.

Dirk Nowitzki's brave words were met with appreciation from his followers, who praised him for his empathy and compassion.

The 41-year-old Würzburg, West Germany-native spent 21 seasons in the NBA and has also experienced what it's like to be considered a minority in the United States.

Nowitzki's statement comes a day after his former employer, Mavs owner Mark Cuban, released a statement of his own. The tech-billionaire investor tweeted that white people are the ones that need to change.

Meanwhile, tensions continue to rise in several parts of the US, as angered protesters march the streets to seek justice for Floyd's death. While most groups engaged in peaceful forms of protests, others have resorted to violence and looting to prove a point.

These unfortunate incidents have somehow tainted the Black Lives Matter movement's message for racial equality amongst all ethnicities.

The NBA, on the other hand, continues to be one of the most prominent voices airing support for the BLM cause. The league also supported an eerily similar message in 2014, allowing its players to don “I Can't Breath” warmers following the death of Eric Garner at the hands of law enforcement.

Nowitzki is the latest icon to share his thoughts and he probably won't be the last.
