The heat between the Utah Jazz and the Portland Trail Blazers carried on off the court following what was a testy matchup between two these two Western Conference contenders. The tightly-contested matchup ended in controversy, with the game officials missing a goal tending call that would have tied the contest in the dying seconds of the fourth and final frame.

It was a heated matchup throughout the evening, and as it turns out, players on the opposing teams were not content with leaving their smack talking on the court. It all started when Mitchell took exception with Blazers sophomore shooting guard Gary Trent Jr.'s in-game trash talking during the former's post-game interview.

Blazers superstar point guard Lillard caught wind of this and responded to Mitchell's comments, which then prompted the Utah youngster to clap back.

The instigator of this all, Trent, would then join in on the action, appearing to subtly ridicule Mitchell and his remarks.

One of the avid observers of this rather amusing exchange called out Mitchell for his alleged lack of respect for a proven veteran like Lillard. For his part, Mitchell could not help but respond to the random tweet, claiming that he meant no disrespect whatsoever.

Lillard has yet to respond to any of Mitchell's retorts, and it seems that the former is willing to let this one go. The Blazers star player has had his fair share of Twitter beefs — perhaps none more audacious than his back-and-forth with Hall of Famer Shaquille O'Neal albeit in good nature — and it appears that this time around, he no longer wants to give Mitchell the time of day.
