Former NBA swingman Lamar Odom is looking to get back to his roots after encountering some tough times over the years. Now a member of the Big 3, the 39-year-old Odom is working hard to regain the skills that once allowed him to become a key cog for both the Los Angeles Clippers and Los Angeles Lakers.

“For me it’s just a blessing to be able to play. I’m just refining all my skills,” Odom recently told Stefan Bondy of The New York Daily News. “I think God made a deal with me. He said, ‘I'm going to give you life, but I’m going to take your basketball skills.' But I don’t mind working to get it back. It’s going to be a tedious process, but it’ll come back.”

lamar Odom originally broke into the NBA back in 1999 as the No. 4 overall pick by the Clippers before going on to suit up for the Lakers, Miami Heat and Dallas Mavericks. Odom last played in a regulation NBA game in 2012-13.

“From the stroke, some of my balance is not the same, my equilibrium is not the same, but I’m working on it to get it better,” Odom added. “Handling the basketball came so naturally. When I see that going between my legs and going behind my back is a problem, I think that’s the coma and stroke and heart attack.”

Now joining a laundry list of former NBA players as part of the Big 3, Odom could serve as an entertaining piece of the puzzle for the three-on-three league.
