Former NBA player Andrew Bogut has announced his decision to not re-sign with his current squad, the Syndey Kings.

The 35-year-old center, who currently plays in the National Basketball League (NBL), bared his thoughts in a lengthy Twitter post on Monday.

Andrew Bogut made it clear he is not retiring from basketball just yet and is simply just mulling his options at the moment. The seven-foot Aussie cited the uncertain times brought by the COVID-19 pandemic as one of the main reasons for his decision.

For what it's worth, the former Golden State Warriors center and NBA top pick announced last April that he was thinking about his retirement and that he would make a decision by mid-May.

Bogut and the Kings are coming off a Finals defeat against the Perth Wildcats last March. The supposed best-of-five finale was cut short as sporting leagues all around the world suspended operations due to the threat of the virus.

The Wildcats were awarded as champions after winning two of the first three games of the series.

Bogut, meanwhile, has since been spending his free time with his family and rehabilitating his body. He claims that his decision is also a courtesy for the Kings to free them up for the upcoming free agency period.

The 2020-21 NBL season is scheduled to take place in October.

As for Bogut, his sabbatical from the NBL frees him up from any obligations in case a contending NBA team decides to pursue his services come playoff time.

The one-time NBA champion brings in a wealth of playoff experience and is still quite the disruptive defensive force. Bogut has career averages of 9.6 points, 8.7 boards, 2.2 assists, and 1.5 blocks in 14 seasons with the Milwaukee Bucks, Warriors, Dallas Mavericks, Cleveland Cavaliers and Los Angeles Lakers.
