Sherra Wright, ex-wife of slain former NBA player Lorenzen Wright, pleaded guilty to facilitating first-degree murder in his shooting death nine years ago and will receive a 30-year prison sentence, per Adrian Sanz of The Associated Press.

Sherra Wright made the plea during a hearing in Shelby County Criminal Court in Tennessee.

The murder of Lorenzen Wright had remained unsolved for almost an entire decade. His body was found in a swampy field in Memphis in July 2010. He was 34 years old at that time. Prior to the discovery of his corpse, he had already been missing for 10 days. His body had bullet wounds, and it was believed that his ex-wife was the perpetrator of the crime.

Sherra Wright was charged with first-degree murder in 2017 and was set to go on trial on Sept. 16, along with her alleged accomplice, Billy Turner.

According to reports, Sherra Wright initially planned to kill her ex-husband before the actual murder in Memphis. She allegedly hired two men to assassinate Lorenzen Wright in his home in Atlanta, but the assailants failed. She and Turner then conspired together to kill the former NBA player.

Selected seventh overall in the 1996 NBA Draft, Lorenzen Wright spent 13 seasons in the NBA. He had stints with the Los Angeles Clippers, Atlanta Hawks (twice), Memphis Grizzlies, Sacramento Kings, and Cleveland Cavaliers. He had career averages of 8.0 points and 6.4 rebounds while appearing in a total of 778 games.
