The debate on who the greatest NBA player of all time remains as ripe as ever. Recently, former Detroit Pistons enforcer Bill Laimbeer, who himself had the chance to face the legendary Michael Jordan during his prime, has come out to say that in his mind, there is simply no way that Jordan is a better player than Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James.

“I think LeBron is the best player that's ever played the game,” Laimbeer said on ESPN's First Take on Thursday, via Blake Schuster of Bleacher Report. “He's 6'8″, 285 pounds, runs like the wind and jumps out of the gym.”

Laimbeer, who is currently the head coach of the Las Vegas Aces of the WNBA, went on to belabor his point, explaining why he feels Jordan is no match to James.

“From day one, he knew how to involve his teammates to win,” Laimbeer said. “That's something Jordan had to learn for a long time. Now, if you go by championships, obviously Michael Jordan has more championships. But I think LeBron in any generation would be doing what he's doing right now.”

That's a fair point from Laimbeer, but we will also need to take this with a grain of salt. The 6-foot-11 big man played during Jordan's era, and at that time, MJ's Chicago Bulls were fierce rivals with Laimbeer's Pistons.

This is not the first time Laimbeer has come out with such a controversial statement, having already publicized this very same claim not long ago. It is abundantly clear how he feels about Jordan's legacy.
