The Memphis Grizzlies and Orlando Magic have agreed to a trade. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Magic are receiving Jarell Martin and cash in exchange for Dakari Johnson.

Martin spent his first three seasons in Memphis, averaging 6.2 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 0.7 assists. The power forward finally saw significant minutes during the 2017-18 season, playing just over 22 minutes per game while putting together his most productive season yet.

Dakari Johnson leaves Orlando without playing a single game for the Magic. Johnson was recently traded to Orlando by the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Magic's crowded frontcourt hurt Johnson's prospects of remaining in town. Instead, Johnson will get his chance in Memphis.

Johnson only appeared in 31 games for Oklahoma City, all of which came during the 2017-18 season. Johnson was drafted in the second round of the 2015 draft but remained in the G League with the Oklahoma City Blue for much of the last three seasons. Johnson averaged a paltry 1.8 points and 1.1 rebounds in his one season with the Thunder.

It's unclear whether or not Johnson or Martin will have opportunities in their respective destinations. As mentioned earlier, Orlando's frountcourt consists of Aaron Gordon, Nikola Vucevic, Mo Bamba, and Jonathan Isaac. Memphis' front line includes Marc Gasol, JaMychal Green, and Jaren Jackson Jr.

Both Johnson and Martin must prove their value or risk fading into obscurity. Both were drafted in 2015 and the clock is ticking on their NBA careers. Perhaps a change of scenery will benefit both players as we head into the 2018-19 campaign.
