In an effort to help those affected by the coronavirus pandemic, NBA free agent point guard Isaiah Thomas is making food donations to University of Washington Medical Center locations this week.

According to a report from Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports, Thomas will donate pizza from Pagliacci’s Pizza, which is a local small business. Haynes also notes that more than 1,000 people will be helped by this donation:

Thomas is from Tacoma and played college basketball at Washington.

The NBA decided to supspend the 2019-20 regular season back in March due to ongoing concerns with COVID-19. Utah Jazz big man Rudy Gobert became the league's first confirmed case. His teammate, Donovan Mitchell, tested positive shortly after. Since then, several other players and staffers have contracted the virus.

At this point, it's not clear if this season will resume. Some, including Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, have speculated that games might be played later this year. However, Cuban later admitted that doctors and health officials will have the final word.

Thomas, now 31 years of age, was traded from the Wizards to the Clippers in February as a deadline acquisition. The crafty guard was then waived two days later.

In his 40 appearances with the Wizards this season (37 starts), Thomas racked up averages of 12.2 points on 40.8 percent shooting from the field (41.3 percent from beyond the arc), 3.7 assists and 1.7 rebounds in 23.1 minutes per outing.

Thomas isn't the only athlete making charitable donations during this uncertain time. In fact, Gobert, Giannis Antetokounmpo, CJ McCollum and Kevin Love are just a few of the NBA players who have decided to lend a hand.
