Isaiah Thomas recently stated that he believes he should have been part of the Los Angeles Lakers' roster entering this season. On Wednesday, he doubled down on this bold claim by letting his game do the talking in what was a truly jaw-dropping NBA G League debut for the former two-time All-Star.

Thomas played his first game for the Grand Rapids Gold on Wednesday and it is clear that the 32-year-old is trying to make up for lost time (h/t ClutchPoints on Twitter):

Thomas finished with a jaw-dropping 42 points in his G League debut, to go along with five triples, six rebounds, eight assists, and two steals. IT took 30 shots in the game to get to 42 and it's clear to see that he has the greenest of green lights to shoot. it is worth noting that the fact that Thomas was able to take 30 shots in his first game of the season speaks volumes of his conditioning.

The Grand Rapids Gold is the G League affiliate of the Denver Nuggets. At this point, it would not be improbable to think that IT could get a call up to the big leagues in the near future. Even if the Nuggets decide against doing so, I'm pretty sure there are a handful of other NBA teams out there who will have their eyes on Isaiah Thomas after this breakout performance. Could the Lakers be one of them? I guess we'll soon find out.
