After the Brooklyn Nets were swept by the Boston Celtics on Monday night, Hall of Fame point guard Isiah Thomas believes that we should start thinking about the top dogs in the league. The two-time NBA champ posted a very interesting question about whether or not LeBron James and Kevin Durant should still be considered the best players in the league.

Thomas argues that given how both superstars are no longer in championship contention this early in the postseason, it begs a very serious question:

“After these playoffs, we're gonna have to do some rethinking of who the top players are,” Thomas said (h/t Talkin' NBA on Twitter). “We've had LeBron James & Kevin Durant in the top. One got swept & one didn't even make the play-in so.”

Thomas does have a point here. LeBron James and Kevin Durant are without a doubt two of the greatest players to ever pick up the basketball. Most would even argue that they're the two top players in the game today. However, what Thomas is pointing out here is that how can they be the best when they can't even carry their teams to a formidable challenge for the title?
