Jamal Crawford is still out of work as we hit Christmas and the 39-year-old admits he's a little torn.

While Crawford still wants to play in the NBA, he says being able to spend time with his family and give back to his community is pretty special during the holidays:

“I’m not retired,” Crawford told Percy Allen of the Seattle Times. “But I am enjoying this time with my family. … So I’m looking at it like the glass is half full because I’m able to do things that I wouldn’t have been able to do.

“I’m not bitter. But I’m not in full reflective mode either. Still, at times I stop and I’m like wow. You had a commercial with Jay-Z and Michael Jordan. You had your own shoe. There’s some really cool things that have happened along this journey that I don’t normally get a chance to think about.

“So, either way, I can’t lose because either I’m going back to play in the NBA or I’m going to be here with my family.”

Crawford played with the Phoenix Suns last season. The veteran scorer averaged 7.9 points, 1.3 rebounds and 3.6 assists in 64 games while shooting 39.7 percent from the field, 33.2 percent from beyond the arc and 84.5 percent from the free-throw line.

Crawford scored 51 points on April 9 against the Dallas Mavericks. Portland Trail Blazers shooting guard CJ McCollum said last month he believes there has to be a team in the NBA which can use Crawford’s scoring off the bench.
