James Michael McAdoo's young NBA career will have to take a backseat for now.

According to Nicola Lupo of Sportando, the two-time NBA champion has signed with Auxilium Fiat Torino of the Italy Serie-A basketball league and will play in the 7DAYS EuroCup (or also known as EuroCup Basketball) next season.

Although the typical landing spots for former NBA players are China and the EuroLeague (the latter being the more distinguished league after the NBA), the EuroCup winner eventually makes its way to the EuroLeague, and the Larry Brown-coached team has as good a shot as any.

Despite a promising three years with North Carolina, the 6-foot-9 McAdoo went undrafted in the 2014 NBA Draft only to be invited by the Golden State Warriors to their Summer League team and later being signed to their team for the rest of the 2014-15 season, bouncing between their G-League affiliate Santa Cruz Warriors and back.

Because of the Warriors' depth and propensity to play small lineups that already have established forwards in Andre Iguodala and Draymond Green, McAdoo simply couldn't crack the rotation beyond spot-up minutes. This led to dismal averages of just 3.0 points and 1.7 rebounds in his three seasons with the Bay Area franchise.

McAdoo then joined the Philadelphia 76ers last season on a two-way deal but had a disappointing stint as well, and was waived in January. Still only 25 years-old, the former North Carolina Tar Heel is hoping to be one of the many NBA players to head overseas for a year or two for some much-needed seasoning (and a paycheck) rather than languish in the free agent wire or the bottom rung of the rotation.
