NBA champion J.R. Smith has taken on a new challenge after his 16-year NBA career. The potent scorer is going to college at North Carolina A&T.

Before you get any delusions of J.R. Smith returning to absolutely demolish fools in NCAA hoops, he'll actually be competing on the university's golf team. This has some people doubting if he's actually going to do any studying while there. Smith hilariously admitted he's gotten that question more times than he was hoping.

Don't sleep on J.R. Smith's work ethic, folks! The man's trying to be a student-athlete. He's also been very vocal answering curious fans' inquiries on his college situation.

It's a crying shame that J.R. Smith didn't opt for the traditional dorm-and-roommate arrangement. Just imagine you're an incoming freshman and you find out that you're rooming with an NBA player. That sitcom virtually writes itself.

Best believe he'll be dining on the finest cuisines on campus. The man earned close to $100 million throughout his NBA career. He's not going to be eating the same soggy fries and cold pizza that everyone else will.

Being a multi-millionaire former NBA star also makes J.R. Smith quite a catch for fraternities. The number one overall pick, if you will. But unfortunately it sounds like he won't be signing up for any Greek organization during his stay.

J.R. Smith famously declared for the NBA Draft straight out of high school and immediately made his mark on the league. But foregoing that college experience apparently had him yearning for what it's like to worry about deadlines in the fiery crucible that is a tertiary education – and we're all here for it.
