JR Smith is closely linked to the adult beverage Hennessy. The one-time NBA champion and veteran swingman has a colorful history photographed with the ubiquitous cognac.

However, the former Cleveland Cavaliers guard distanced himself from “Henny” once again.

“I don't even drink Henny, bro…that's not sh–, bro. I hate that sh–, for real,” the NBA free agent guard said while on livestream playing Warzone. “I never drank it before that. The picture everybody talks about of me drinking Henny — is a champagne bottle. So, I don't even know how that came even came about.”

This isn't the first time the former Cavs, New York Knicks and Denver Nuggets guard spoke out against Hennessy. Smith, released by Cleveland in July 2019, has denied any affinity to the distilled alcohol in the past.

In 2017, the former NBA Sixth Man of the Year told former Cavs teammates Channing Frye and Richard Jefferson on their “Road Trippin” podcast that he doesn't drink Henny.

Smith has been known informally as the “Henny God” for some time in the NBA, mostly due to his off-the-court antics and propensity for being the life of the party in the club.
