Boston Celtics legend Paul Pierce received a ton of backlash for his recent claim about Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James not being a Top 5 all-time player in the history of the NBA. Recently, none other than Pierce's former Celtics teammate Kendrick Perkins has taken a shot at Pierce for what Perkins considers to be a “delusional” statement.

Perkins recently did a Q&A with Alex Kennedy on the HoopsHype podcast, and this is what the retired NBA champ had to say about Pierce and his statement on LeBron:

“I mean, I can’t knock P for who he had, but I don’t know,” Perkins said. “I think it’s something else there. Like, there’s no way that you can not have LeBron in your Top 5. Now, if you don’t have him as your GOAT, I’m okay with it. But to say that he’s not in your Top 5? Come on, P. I love you to death, my brother, but you’re a little delusional.”

Perkins had the opportunity to play with LeBron towards the latter part of the former's career, and this brief stint as teammates was enough for Perkins to realize just how great James is as a player. So much so, that some folks might think that Perkins has a certain bias towards LeBron — something that Big Perk denied vehemently.

“Why? How? I don’t understand it,” Perkins claimed. “I’m biased because I appreciate greatness? When he’s gone, the game is going to miss him. So because I give LeBron James his flowers [while he’s here], I’m biased toward LeBron? I’m not biased toward LeBron. I don’t work for LeBron, I don’t work for Klutch. I work for ESPN. At the end of the day, if a guy’s playing great basketball and we’re witnessing an all-time great (arguably the greatest player of all time) and he’s still playing the game of basketball at his highest level, if me giving him his flowers and his praises and his just due is being biased, that is crazy to me.”

As Perkins reiterated above (several times), he is not biased towards LeBron. It appears that Perkins just really, really admires the great LeBron James.
