ESPN NBA personality Kendrick Perkins made a Friday morning appearance on First Take, just like he promised he would do after his former teammate, Kevin Durant, had called him a “sellout” for bashing his teammate Kyrie Irving.

Perkins went hard at Irving, even darting a somewhat bizarre bird metaphor to make his case as to why the Brooklyn Nets star was wrong for suggesting players boycott the return of the NBA season.

The big man was in tears as Stephen A. Smith reminded viewers of the meaning of the word “sellout.” The tears are straight out of an episode of “Maury”:

“Kendrick Perkins, welcome to the party, my brother, because I've been called that name on many, many occasions,” said Smith. “I'd like to go about the business of re-educating a whole bunch of black folks out there as to exactly what a sellout is.

“A sellout is a very disparaging label handed down to a black person who is believed to be operating against the best interest of his own community as a whole. So when people say this kind of stuff, a lot of times I'm looking at them like ‘what the hell are you talking about? Do you even know what it means.'”

Perkins noted he still has love for Durant, and even recounted a May 8, 2011 closed-door meeting with Durant in which they hashed out some personal issues. Perkins insisted he, his wife, and children, still have love for him, despite his words.

This is hardly the first time Perkins has had to address issues with Durant, as the big man hasn't been shy to call out his former teammate for joining the Golden State Warriors in 2016 — doing so multiple times.

Those comments have been followed by half-hearted apologies, only to go back at it again. This time around, Perkins went after Irving, and Durant resurfaced to defend his teammate; as many would have expected.

The Perkins-Durant saga appears to continue, and now we can add waterworks to this chapter, as the two are at odds again.

Others have, naturally, chimed in on this NBA drama:
