Yes, you heard it right. Former NBA player Nate Robinson plans to enter the boxing industry by fighting YouTuber Jake Paul as an undercard match in the Mike Tyson – Roy Jones Jr. fight. Former Boston Celtics and Oklahoma City Thunder teammate Kendrick Perkins tweeted in support of his long-time friend Nate and said he’ll bet money for the fight.

In 2011, he and Perkins were traded by the Celtics to Oklahoma City for Jeff Green and Nenad Kristic. No wonder Perkins is willing to throw hard cash at the bout.

The rumors started when insider Shams Charania of The Athletic let us in on Robinson’s letter expressing his desire to step into the ring.

“I wanted to show that I’m a world-class athlete, I played college football, played in the NBA for 11 years, and I’m excited for this venture into the sport of Boxing. Jake Paul, I want all the smoke,” said Nate Robinson.

In the same tweet is Jake Paul’s message claiming the former NBA star will “meet the canvas early”.

True enough, Robinson has had a lot of accolades under his belt in his 11-year tenure with the NBA playing for a number of teams including the: New York Knicks, Boston Celtics, Oklahoma City Thunder, Golden State Warriors, Chicago Bulls and Denver Nuggets. Not to mention, he is also one of the best dunkers out there.

But whether or not he is a threat to the YouTube personality may still be a mystery, as Jake Paul is not exactly new to exhibition fights like these. Last December, he defeated fellow YouTube person AnEsonGib in just under 2 minutes and 18 seconds.via technical knockout.

The Mike Tyson – Roy Jones Jr. exhibition bout will be on September 12 late this year. This is Tyson’s first fight over 15 years.
