The NBA has become one of — if not the — most popular professional sports leagues in the world. While the NBA has certainly taken the United States by storm over the course of the last several seasons, former big man Kenyon Martin has taken notice.

“It’s changed, but it’s changed for the better because players’ skill sets have evolved,” Martin recently said of the modern-day NBA, via Hoops Hype. “Before, you had bigs who could only do one thing. Now, if you’re a big, you have to be multi-faceted, which I think is great. That just shows you how much the game is evolving. Would I like to see some things go back to the way they were? Yeah. Basketball is a contact sport, but they’ve taken that part out. I wish they’d get rid of some of the flopping and things like that. But the fact that skill sets are improving is good. The league should always be evolving. I’m with it.”

With its captivating storylines, super teams and unbelievable feats of athleticism and skill, it is not hard to believe that many around the world adore the NBA. While the aforementioned Martin starred in a time that featured hard-nosed defense, an abundance of superstars and a wide variety of talented teams, the recent changes definitely appear to be for the better as the game continues to evolve with the generations.

Not that Martin's NBA was any less entertaining, it was just simply a different time that featured excitement that correlated perfectly with such an era.
