Andre Iguodala says the 2010 FIBA team was a catalyst for the Golden State Warriors to sign Kevin Durant in 2016.

Durant, Iguodala and Stephen Curry were all on the 2010 FIBA squad that won gold. Iguodala believes the relationships built during that summer of 2010 helped set the stage for Durant's 2016 decision, with that summer even coming up during the Hamptons meeting that helped close the deal.

“We spoke about that summer when we all went up to the Hamptons,” Andre Iguodala says, recalling the famous meeting that helped the Warriors seal the deal with Kevin Durant.

“Everybody talks about the Hamptons trip and the ‘Hamptons Five,' but that was where it started. I've never seen him have as much joy as the 2010 team, up to that point.

Curry, Iguodala, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green met with Durant in the Hamptons during the summer of 2016. Despite speaking with the Heat, Los Angeles Clippers, San Antonio Spurs and Boston Celtics, Durant chose to leave the Oklahoma City Thunder to join the Warriors.

Durant's three-year run with the Warriors was pretty legendary. The former MVP won two titles and two Finals MVPs.

The Warriors probably would have won the 2019 championship as well if Durant didn't suffer a calf injury in the second round of the 2019 playoffs against the Houston Rockets. That ailment ultimately led to KD tearing his Achilles in Game 5 of the Finals, the only contest Durant appeared in during that series.

KD, who now plays for the Brooklyn Nets, finished his Warriors career with averages of 25.8 points, 7.1 rebounds and 5.4 assists in 208 regular-season games.
