The Golden State Warriors and Oklahoma City Thunder are set to square off in another chapter of the showdown between superstars Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook. Following the departure of Durant from the Thunder, the matchups with his former team have been plenty heated.

It is not uncommon to see superstar teammates ultimately go their separate ways, especially in today's NBA. One player that has had similar experiences is NBA legend Kevin Garnett, who recently gave his piece on the whole Westbrook/Durant dynamic in an interview with Bleacher Report's Jonathan Abrams:

I played with guys like Steph [Marbury] when we were super best friends, and he left, and that left an immediate mark and impacted me in a certain way that I looked at teammates different after that. The ones that stuck—Malik [Sealy], Sam Mitchell, Joe Smith, Gary Trent, Trenton Hassell, Troy Hudson—those guys became real friends with me after that because of that situation.

So I totally understood it when he was going through the KD saga and all that and how both of them moved on—and are starting to make interesting basketball when it comes to the West and have us all watching with open eyes.

Garnett would go through it once again after winning a championship as a member of the ‘Big 3' with the Boston Celtics. After multiple early exits from the playoffs in the years that followed, sharpshooter Ray Allen decided to join the Miami Heat team that had just defeated his Celtics a few months earlier.

Needless to say, it would be years before the “Big Ticket” and the other Celtics were finally willing to let bygones be bygones with Allen. However, with Durant at the height of his power and Westbrook still trying to mesh with his new teammates, it could be awhile before these two can patch things up.
