USA Basketball made a couple final tweaks to its training camp roster just 24 hours before preparations for the 2019 FIBA World Cup officially begin in Las Vegas.

According to ESPN's Brian Windhorst, New York Knicks big man Julius Randle has withdrawn from participation due to a family issue, while Denver Nuggets wing Torrey Craig has been added to the Select Team in place of LA Clippers guard Landry Shamet.

Randle signed a three-year, $62 million deal with the Knicks in free agency. The final season of his contract is partially guaranteed.

The five-year pro put up gaudy numbers with the New Orleans Pelicans last season, averaging 21.4 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 3.1 assists while shooting 52.4 percent from the field and a much-improved 34.4 percent from three-point range. There's a split in league circles on Randle's real value to winning, though, with some maintaining his impressive statistical profile isn't an accurate indicator of his worth due to his widespread defensive issues and penchant for ball-hogging.

Craig's addition to the Select Team, the group of young players who scrimmage against players in consideration for the national team, is an especially significant accomplishment given his humble career beginnings. Undrafted out of South Carolina Upstate in 2014, he played overseas and in the G-League for three seasons before catching on with the Nuggets in 2017. Craig started 37 games for Denver at small forward in 2018-19, guarding the opposition's top perimeter threat while averaging 5.7 points and 3.5 rebounds.

Shamet, a late addition to the Select Team after a string of defections from training camp, withdrew from consideration to focus on rehabbing a contusion in his leg.

The 2019 FIBA World Cup begins in China on August 31. The Americans are defending gold medals won in 2014 and 2010.
