A new development has emerged with regards to the tragic helicopter crash that took the lives of Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gianna, and seven other individuals. In a recent article posted on NewsWest9, it is being reported that the families of the crash victims have decided to file a lawsuit against the aircraft firm.

Family members of four of the eight passengers killed in a helicopter crash with Kobe Bryant and his daughter have joined the NBA star's widow in filing wrongful death lawsuits against the companies that owned and operated the aircraft.

The suits on behalf of three members of one family, and a woman who helped coach Bryant’s 13-year-old daughter in basketball, were filed electronically Sunday in Los Angeles Superior Court.

Note that this is a separate suit from the one that was filed by Bryant's widow, Vanessa, on the same day of her husband's memorial service in Staples Center. This means that Island Express Express Helicopters Inc., the company that operated the helicopter service, as well as Island Express Holding Corp., the owner of the Sikorsky helicopter, are set to face multiple lawsuits over the next few years.

This new development comes to no surprise, considering how the aircraft firms are the ones who are being blamed for the tragic accident. It is granted that it was never in their intention for this to happen, but what the plaintiffs are arguing here is that they showed neglect and carelessness. It does sound like this is going to be a long and drawn-out legal battle which we will be reading about in the years to come.
