With the coronavirus pandemic shutting down the NBA along with other major sports leagues, plenty of employees at stadiums are also losing their income. Fortunately, tenants at Staples Center — the Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers, and LA Kings — promised that their employees would be well accounted for.

They turned that plan into reality by building a fund that would aid the 2,800 men and women that work for the stadium.

Moreover, in a joint letter by the three organizations (per ESPN's Ohm Youngmisuk) the teams expressed their appreciation for their service. They also highlighted that they set the fund up to assist the arena employees during these strange times.

“We understand that these extraordinary events have all impacted our lives and, as a valuable member of the STAPLES Center team, your health and wellbeing [are] important to us,” the letter read. “To help you and your family get through these challenging times, we at STAPLES Center, the LA Clippers, LA Kings, and Los Angeles Lakers have created a fund that will pay hourly event employees for shifts lost for all sporting events they were scheduled to work (that do not take place) through the end of the NBA and NHL regular seasons.

“On behalf of the LA Clippers, LA Kings, the Los Angeles Lakers, and STAPLES Center, we thank you or your dedication, patience, and valuable service. We look forward to welcoming you back to work as soon as possible.”

The Clippers, Lakers and LA Kings are the latest organization to commit to assisting their staff through the tough NBA coronavirus suspension. As there's no sure timetable on the league's return, it's great that they take care of the people that make their games possible.
